EXTENDED ABSTRACT: The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) is a large-scale scientific facility, which aims to provide a powerful platform for both fundamental scientific research and high-tech development in many application fields such as material science, life science, resource environment, new energy, etc. The current situation and achievement of Phase I, and the progress of Phase II of CSNS will be introduced briefly. In the second part, the neutron experimental technologies and analysis methods of characteristic will be present, including neutron powder diffraction on crystalline, neutron reflection on thin film, and small angle neutron scattering on nano-structure.The non-destructive detection methods are given in the last part, including residual stress measurement using neutron diffraction,micro-defect detection using neutron imaging, trace element determination using neutron depth profile, and single event effect by neutron radiation.
Keywords: Neutron Scattering, Characteristic of Materials, Non-destructive Detection.
Junrong ZHANG has earned his Ph.D. in condensed matter physics from Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), followed by the assistant research in State Key Laboratory of Magnetism. He completed the post-doctoral fellowship at High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK), Japan. In 2013, he was selected in the CAS Pioneer Hundred Talents Program. Now he is, researcher and doctoral supervisor, Deputy Director of Neutron Science Division of Dongguan Branch, Institute of High Energy Physics, CAS. He is in charge of the operation of neutron target and instrumentation of China Spallation Neutron Source.
